GW2 Mass PvP

It's a lot like DAoC, 3 evenly matched servers goto the battleground map filled with dozens of forts, keeps, castles and supply depots and fight over them until 1 server controls the whole map, then your server's ranking increases/decreases and you get matched up again.

GW1/2 PvP is all about sustained and spike damage, different classes have different damage roles, so it's hard to get kills when by yourself.

Yeh, stuff like that is fun but only happens cause it's a beta and ppl are bored making events. When you hit lvl 60 in TERA there is nothing to do in the world aside from a few raid bosses, the PvP is all battlegrounds to farm points, takes like 2 months of farming for a full set of gear because you can only do them for 5 hours a day, if you miss those 5 hours you can't make it up and will fall behind.

Leveling up is also just like Aion, repeat 5000 quests that tell you to track down x kind of mob on the map and kill 10 of them...Really fun combat (although kind of clunky and slow), but underneath that the game is very boring and grindy. It broke a record for OBT signups/players in Korea, then within a year was almost dead, less players than L2 now.

Also here's the "Competitive" PvP, your char gets boosted to 80, even if it's a lvl 1, you get PvP gear sets to use and unlock all skills, so there are no gear advantages:



These were just random public games, but if you pre-make an 8 man team it's called Guild vs Guild fights, there's a leader board for the world, esports type thing with tournaments between top guilds/teams.

But I wasn't doing much PvP here, the map is kind of DotA influenced, there are 2 minibosses to kill that give 50 points each, there are 3 control points you have to capture and hold to gain points, first to 500 points wins. I was just really lucky and had like a perfect game, every time i went to cap something there were no enemy players.

Best part of GW2 is the PvE though, no more boring MMO PvE, it would take a wall of text to describe what makes the PvE awesome and how it's not like WoW, L2, Aion or any other game before it, but I'll prolly upload some vids of the Dynamic Events later tonight.

Can't wait to play again.

3 factions world pvp, dynamic events, cross class combos, weapon dependent skill sets, no dedicated healer/tank classes, arena pvp with equal gear?

skills arent your typical tab target spam thing either.

Dynamic Events are the best thing ever...I was lvl 20 and still going around the lvl 5-10 zones doing all the events like that with dozens of ppl around, thanks to scaling system you still get rewarded for them the same rate you would doing stuff in lvl 20 zones, the content never becomes inaccessible/obsolete.

Never going to play a game where you have to lvl up doing kill x mob/fedex quests again. It's hard to get from a video, but for example the dynamic events can string together over a dozen or so events through a full day, if you lose, mobs might take over a whole area of the zone, capturing towns, building siege weapons/fortifications, maybe start gathering materials for new weapons, then you'll get events to drive them out, capturing cities back, fortifying them and moving on to the mobs main camp to wipe them out...then maybe days later the event strings will start again. They aren't individual quests, there are like 1500+ of them throughout the whole world, they're going on all the time in every zone for all players nearby, if you miss them you simply miss them, the world doesn't revolve around you.

Basically PvE is running around looking for them and participating in them, usually with dozens of players nearby (they scale on difficulty based on how many players are in the area). There are 5 races all with their own zones, for lvl 1-30 you also have an individual character storyline, there are 3 storylines per race (so 15 total in the game) that you get based on choices in character creation. At lvl 30 the storylines consolidate so you can do them with other players.


Also you can temporarily swap to any server for PvE to play with friends, the only thing you're stuck on your chosen server for is the Word vs World mass PvP (because it's 3 different servers fighting each other).

Their Dynamic PvE events just repeat over and over...not really Dynamic...but looking forward to the PvP

Not really, majority of them happen once per day, some might take a week before they'll happen again. They are usually strings of like a dozen or so events that go back and forth, depend on what happens in the last one.

At lvl 1-10 they're a bit simpler, just simple repeating ones that take 5-30 mins to do, but that's just because it's low level...There are over 1500 dynamic events in the game.

lol asking to buff any aspect of ranger is just lol... they're getting the nerf if anything.

They're just going to nerf the buffs they have, like the warhorn or the passive that gives 4sec of crazy attack speed.

With 2h sword build you can kill ppl in 2-3 seconds with it lol. 2 Rangers that do buffs and then barrage (arrow AOE) can like kill a whole group of ppl lol.
